"The Shimmy" Dancer, Actress & Vaudevillian Arline Chase 1926 Rosedale Cemetery

Arline Chase (August 26, 1900 - April 12, 1926) was a dancer, actress, and vaudevillian who helped popularize "The Shimmy" during the World War I era. 

Born in Bangor, Maine, where her actor parents were appearing in stock theater, she made her stage debut as a child. She had notable roles on the Broadway stage in:

"Very Good Eddie" (1915), 

"Leave It to Jane" (1917), 

"She's A Good Fellow" (1919), 

and "The Night Boat" (1920).

Arline Chase died on April 12, 1926 of tuberculosis in Sierra Madre, California. She was married to Frank X. O'Leary at the time of her death. She is interred in Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
