"The Hustler" Actress Piper Laurie 1932-2023 Memorial Video

Piper Laurie (born Rosetta Jacobs; January 22, 1932 – October 14, 2023) was an American actress. She is known for her roles in the films The Hustler (1961), Carrie (1976), Children of a Lesser God (1986), Other People's Money (1991), Trauma (1993), and The Faculty (1998). Her television work includes the miniseries The Thorn Birds (1983) and Twin Peaks (1990-91).

She received various accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award, in addition to nominations for three Academy Awards and a BAFTA Award. 

Laurie was also a sculptor who worked in marble and clay.

Piper Laurie died in Los Angeles on October 14, 2023, at the age of 91, having been unwell for some time.

George Maharis (September 1, 1928 – May 24, 2023) was an American actor, singer, and visual artist who portrayed Buz Murdock in the first three seasons of the TV series Route 66. Maharis also recorded several pop music albums at the height of his fame.

A string of films followed, including Quick, Before It Melts (1964), The Satan Bug and Sylvia (both 1965), A Covenant with Death and The Happening (both 1967), and The Desperados (1969).

Returning to series television in 1970, Maharis starred as criminologist Jonathan Croft in The Most Deadly Game. 

Maharis modeled fully nude for the centerfold of the July 1973 issue of Playgirl magazine, one of the first celebrities to do so. It was the magazine's second issue.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Maharis had featured roles in several television movies and also guest-starred on numerous television series, including Mission: Impossible, Fantasy Island, Kojak, McMillan & Wife, Barnaby Jones, Police Story, Cannon, Night Gallery, and Marcus Welby M.D.

George Maharis died at his Beverly Hills home on May 24, 2023, at the age of 94.

Thomas Edward Sizemore Jr. (November 29, 1961 – March 3, 2023) was an American actor.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Sizemore started his career with supporting appearances in Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Lock Up (1989), and Blue Steel (1990). These appearances led to more prominent roles in films like Passenger 57 (1992), True Romance (1993), Striking Distance (1993), Wyatt Earp (1994), Natural Born Killers (1994), Strange Days (1995), Heat (1995) and The Relic (1997). In 1998, Sizemore starred in Saving Private Ryan, his most commercially successful film. He later appeared in Bringing Out the Dead (1999), Black Hawk Down (2001), and Pearl Harbor (2001).

Sizemore received a Golden Globe nomination for his lead role in the television film Witness Protection (1999). He also provided the voice of mobster Sonny Forelli in the acclaimed 2002 video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

In 2007, VH1 aired the reality series Shooting Sizemore (2007), which depicted Sizemore's struggle to regain his career amid addictions to methamphetamine and heroin. Sizemore also participated in other reality series related to his addiction, including Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2010) and Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House (2010). He appeared in the revival series of Twin Peaks (2017).

On February 18, 2023, Sizemore suffered a brain aneurysm at his Los Angeles home and was hospitalized at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in critical condition. On February 27, Sizemore's representative issued a statement indicating that doctors had determined there was "no further hope" for Sizemore to recover and had "recommended end-of-life decisions" to his family. Tom Sizemore died on March 3, 2023, at the age of 61.

"Star Trek" Actress Sharon Acker 1935-2023 Memorial Video

Sharon Eileen Acker (April 2, 1935 – March 16, 2023) was a Canadian film, stage, and television actress and model. She appeared mostly on television in Canada and the United States from 1956 to 1992. 

In 1969 she guest-starred in the Star Trek episode "The Mark of Gideon" as Odona, a young woman who chooses to sacrifice herself by introducing disease to her overpopulated planet. She played Della Street, Perry Mason's loyal secretary, in The New Perry Mason (1973-74) opposite Monte Markham. In 1976–77 she portrayed Helen Walling in the prime-time drama Executive Suite. She appeared in two episodes of The Rockford Files in 1978 and 1979.

Her film roles include Lucky Jim (1957), Point Blank (1967), Waiting for Caroline (1969), The First Time (1969), Don't Let the Angels Fall (1969), and Happy Birthday to Me (1981).

Sharon Acker, at age 87, died in a retirement home in Toronto, Canada on March 16, 2023.
