IS DUKES DEAD???


Dukes West Hollywood, formerly known as Duke's Coffee Shop, was founded in 1968 as part of the Tropicana Motel on Santa Monica Blvd. In 1987, Dukes moved to its current location at 8909 Sunset Blvd. Besides serving delicious food, Dukes is known as a "musical mecca" having fed countless celebrity regulars like Jim Morrison, Tom Waits, Janis Joplin, The Runaways, John Belushi, Rickie Lee Jones, etc. Dukes has been mentioned in world famous literature, movies, and music over the last four decades. Dukes has become not only a landmark but a Hollywood institution.

  1. The number on their website - called their 'new' website with a 2009 date on it - is disconnected with no forwarding number. That doesn't sound good.

  2. OK - it was closed a few years ago for a remodel by a new owner and then another new owner took over in 2010. But now YELP is reporting it closed. BUT - there is also a note someone left on the YELP page saying there is a new owner and a new... summer.... menu - which would seem to suggest a summer reopening after the work that is being currently done... is done Maybe. Because it's odd they would let the phone be disconnected.
