"Wyatt Earp" Actor Bert Lindley 1873-1953 Woodlawn Cemetery


Bert Lindley ( December 3, 1873 - September 12, 1953) was born Herbert Maxwell Lindley in Chicago, Illinois. He was an American stage and motion picture actor of the 1920s and 30s. 



Bert Lindley was the first actor to ever portray Wyatt Earp in a motion picture film; he appears as Earp in Bill Hart's 1923 film "Wild Bill Hickok."

Are We Civilized? (1934), 




The Three Mesquiteers (1936), and




After the Thin Man (1936).


Bert Lindley was married to Elizabeth (Bessie) Frances Fisher.(February 1910 - September 12, 1953). They had five children including future actress Audra Lindley


Bert Lindley died on September 12, 1953 in Los Angeles. He is buried with his daughter Audra Lindley at Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica, California. (No headstone for Audra.)
