Restaurateur & Businesswoman Cordelia Knott 1974 Loma Vista Cemetery

Cordelia L. Hornaday Knott (January 23, 1890 - April 12, 1974) was a restaurateur and businesswoman best remembered for her famous chicken dinner restaurant. Cordelia L. Hornaday was born in Bushton, Coles County, Illinois. She was married to Walter Marvin Knott (December 11, 1889 – December 3, 1981) a California native and berry farmer.

In the 1920s, the Knott family sold berries, preserves and pies from a Buena Park, California roadside stand.

In 1934, Knott's wife Cordelia began serving fried chicken dinners, and within a few years, lines outside the restaurant were often several hours long. To entertain the waiting crowds, the Knott family built the beginnings of an amusement park that would come to be known as Knott's Berry Farm

Cordelia and Walter Knott are buried at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton, California.
